Household income and number of dependants: the sum that tells whether someone meets the Rio Grande do Sul Public Defender's Office means test.
The problem
At the Defensoria’s front desk, the first question is whether the person qualifies. The means test is set by CSDPE Resolution 07/2018, and the sum depends on the current minimum wage.
What was built
A simple calculator, made for the Defensoria’s front desks. It takes the household’s gross income and the number of dependants. Each ordinary dependant takes off 25% of the minimum wage, and each dependant with special needs takes off 50%. If what is left is up to three minimum wages, the person qualifies.
The minimum wage comes straight from the Central Bank, and the screen shows the sum step by step.
